Our website does not collect personal information unless you choose to provide that information to us.
Use of Your Personal Information
Fort Mose Historical Society (FMHS) will use personal information that you voluntarily submit through email or by completing membership or registration forms, etc. to respond to process your request.From time to time, FMHS may also use your personally identifiable information to: transmit announcements; inform you of our activities or events, programs, products or services; communicate membership and development opportunities; or for surveys and other general communication. When we send you information by bulk email, you will always have an immediate opportunity to decline further communication. Please use the contact specified in the email so that we can remove you from the list that contains your name.
FMHS does not store or process payment information locally. FMHS uses outside vendors to provide certain services, such as companies that process credit card transactions for membership and donations. These third-party vendors will have access to the information needed to perform their functions, but may not use your information for any other purpose. Transaction information is securely transmitted to and stored by Stripe.com, our payment gateway.
Buyer data stored locally on FortMose.org includes only:
- Stripe Customer Number (cus_xxxxx...)
- Stripe Subscription Number (sub_xxxxx...)
- Transaction charge number (ch_xxxxx...)
- Last 4 digits and expiration date of user's Credit Card, used for Expiring Card Reminder Emails.
Buyer data transmitted securely to stripe.com includes only:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Full Credit Card Info - Number, CVC, Expiration Date
- IP address
FMHS takes reasonable steps to manage our website technology to ensure that its information technology systems, applications, and information technology infrastructure are secure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. We strive to take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or alteration of your personal information. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, you acknowledge that (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent to the Internet which are beyond our control; and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through this site cannot be guaranteed.
We will retain your information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Statement unless a longer retention period is required or allowed by law.
Right to Deletion
Subject to certain exceptions set out below, on receipt of a verifiable request from you, we will delete your personal information from our records. FMHS will never share your name or information outside the organization unless you affirmatively authorize us to do so. FMHS does not sell or share customer lists with third parties. FMHS may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law.
Within FortMose.org are embedded applications, plug-ins, widgets, and other content links to non-FMHS websites. These sites operate independently of FMHS and have their own privacy policies. FMHS is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of external websites, and such a link is not intended to be an endorsement of the external website or its content.
When you access or interact with FMHS through a social media service such as Facebook or Instagram, we may have visibility to your profile name and other information you have made public in connection with that particular social media service. Social media companies may collect and share anonymous aggregate metrics regarding use, such as the total number of clicks, shares, users’ demographics (e.g., age range, gender, location). These social media companies are not operated by or affiliated with FMHS; the use of their services is governed by the privacy policies of the individual social media companies.
Children and Privacy
FortMose.org is intended to be accessible and enjoyed by general audiences. FMHS does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If a visitor known to be a child sends an email to FMHS, we will use it only to respond to the writer and not to create profiles or otherwise retain the information.
