Fort Mose, an African American Community of Freedom in what is now the United Sates, symbolizes determination, bravery and hope. Enslaved Africans seeking freedom and a better life undertook a dangerous journey to Spanish Florida, with the help of regional Yemassee Native Americans. This was the first "underground railroad!" Tell the story! With your help, children and teachers throughout the nation will be inspired by the story of Fort Mose.
